Diporthesis is a competition for yacht design students which is organized by Aspronadi; The Recreational Yacht Association of Italy.
The competition was held both for sail and motor boat projects and the prize ceremony was held in Genoa Boat Show in 2016. Our project has won the trophy in the sail boat category with the 60 ft cruiser "Ales" The project is prepared with a group of four designers during the yacht design master degree in Politecnico di Milano. |
ABOUT THE PROJECT
A sail boat designed for two young friends who like to sail, travel and socialize with their friends on their holidays.
As a short term cruiser; the boat has two wide identical master cabins with separate en suites including wide shower areas; on both ends of the boat for each owner with a wide saloon area in the middle for the guests.
The saloon area is in an elliptical form where one center has the engine room and the other has the carbon mast.
This elliptical form also connects the two master cabins physically and the two main functions; which are resting and partying on board; conceptually.
The open galley is situated inside the saloon area, where sky effect led lighting in the ceiling enables the space to be used as a party area in the evenings. And for bad weathers, the coffee tables can be converted into a wide dining table to serve dinner for 10 persons.
The day head which is placed on the port side of the saloon is functional for the guest use. There is also an extra cabin on the starboard side, which is used as a storage during the day.
The crew cabin for two persons is placed on the forward of the boat which is reached from the deck. The crew and the guests on board are also separated upon request during the sailing; the winches which are positioned on the very aft of the deck, at a different level than the exterior dining / sunbathing area.
The tender garage with the swimming platform can also be used as a storage area.
The black painted paneling of the doghouse can be converted into solar panels upon request.
