One of the beautiful projects that I happily took part in was Tempus Fugit. She is a 27,4m (90f) classical sailing beauty; designed by Humphreys Yacht Design and built by perfect craftsmanship of Arkın Pruva Yachts. I had happily, been leading the construction process of the interior areas, being the link between the designer and the shipyard. As always, it was a great pleasure to work with Arkın Pruva Yachts, and an honor to take part in the project of highly talented Humphreys Yacht Design. A short while ago, Tempus Fugit was sold to her new owner; whom I believe will enjoy sailing her as much as her first owner. Fairwell dear Tempus Fugit... I'd like to share some completed photos of this beautiful boat today and in the next blog posts I will recall the good old days with some photos we took during the construction process. Well; until the next time, don't forget to stay wet...

There are many very valuable books written on yacht design. May be not as many as the ones in the architectural field but still, designwise or engineeringwise you can find very valuable books on designing sail or motoryachts. I will share some of these books, whose authors I know in person and highly admire. I have been lucky enough to be their student; learning anout yacht design in person directly from them. They are all working as designers in the yachting industry; teaching in the university and also writing books! What more would we need! :) Below are Massimo Gregori's books. More info on: Yankee Delta Studio Below are Massimo Musio-Sale's books. More info on: La Spezia-Yacht Design Dept. Below is Massimo Paperini's book. More info on: Duck Design Keep close to the sea and do not forget to stay wet... There are many nice spots in Milan, yes that's true. But by far, my favorite shop in the whole city is definitely "La Libreria del Mare" The shop is located in Brera district; which is again my favorite area. It has a small façade which you may walk by and may not notice easily. But once you do and step in, be sure that you will find yourself in a whole different marine world! You will find all sorts of books related to boats, yachts, sealife, fishing; and to anything that is related to the sealife. All in different sizes, thicknesses and in different languages. Besides, there are hundreds of beautiful boat paintings of all sizes and in different medias. You would also agree that there are many unique nautical accessories in the shop as well... You do not have to buy anything, but please do drop by here, just to get a deep feeling of a sealife in a city that has no sea. Yes, a great shop that will make you feel home.
Stay wet, until the next time we meet... It is always a pleasure to work with friends, especially if they are your classmates from the university; where you struggled to learn all the interior design concepts and technical issues together.
And as the years pass by, it becomes more interesting to share the experiences everyone achieves, in the niche that they create so different than each other, although in the same sector. So Kaan Karaoz, who established On2 Design company, is such an old and dear friend of mine. He has chosen to work in the land, as I call it, and is very much experienced in designing houses. On2 Design is the web site where you can get more information on these lovely projects. Some time ago we had created a concept for a trawler refit project together, which we both enjoyed a lot. Below are some concept sheets of that project... You are visiting an exhibiton hall with a collegue of yours without knowing what is being on display. Then you see that the show is about your profession. It makes both of you happy. You walk around...after a while you realize that you have already became a small part of this lovely exhibition! What a joy... Arredamento Mimarlık is one of the leading architecture magazines of Turkey. Every issue is apt to be archived, a magazine that we have been following since we were students in the university. The big success of the magazine as having 300 issues published in 27 years; is being celebrated by a very well curated exhibition that is held in the beautiful building of Salt Galata. If you ever get the chance, you definitely have to visit the Salt Galata Building, that has recently been renovated; which was built in 1892 and as the fist bank of Ottoman Empire. Until the next time, don't keep away from the art and of course from the sea life!...
Well, unfortunately I am not there but I am hundred percent sure that it is a great boat show over there. The warm weather, the clear skies, colorful skyscrapers and the big big big yachts! You still have time, the boat show will end on 4th of March. If you can make it, just go and enjoy it! For more information you can visit the official web site here: Dubai Boat Show 2017 Below are some cool photos from previous Dubai Boat Shows that I came across on the net. Until the next time, stay wet!...
The leading yacht magazine in Turkey "Naviga" has spared their pages to our company this month. We have made a very nice interview which we attach below. Thank you Naviga! Until the next time, stay wet!... It is always a great pleasure to begin a new project. Making new researches, coming up with fresh ideas, learning the expectations and tastes of the client, getting acquaintance with the yacht and much more to explore. The starting point is mainly lots of meetings; talking on the tastes and expectations. Prepraing sketches, looking at magazines and books, window shopping the furniture shops accompanies this stage quite much. The following phase is mostly about getting real on the project. And mood boards are mostly a vital element of this stage. Well below you will find the first drafts of our new project's mood boards. Modern lines in black and white, under the dominance of shades of gray with some gold accents. The first studies are as follows: We will be sharing the upcoming stages quite soon!..
Visiting the show this year has again been an exceptional experience; witnessing that the fair grows bigger and bigger every year. Below I will share some of the very inspiring artwork that I have captured myself. As well as that I include some professional photos of the exhibits from the official website; Contemporary Istanbul since the crowd wouldn't let me take nice shots of many of the favored artworks. Why don't you visit the 2017 Contemporary Art Show event in Istanbul? I promise that you will not regret it.
Until the next time stay artistic, and always stay wet... It may not be like this in the other sectors but when it comes to the marine sector, the boat shows create a great excitement among the people involved in this business. The main reason is that you can see, review and if lucky, get onboard these beautiful and famous yachts in a boat show only but nowhere else. By no doubt, among all the others, Monaco Yacht Show is the most important and appreciated one. In all the magazines and web sites, the comments had been made already, so I will only be posting some of the photos that I have taken in the show this year.
Unfortunately; two boat shows were held at the same time with the Monaco Yacht Show, in Istanbul. Dividing the shows in one city is quite a misfortune already, and having both of them at the same time during the MYS, is even a lot more bigger misfortune. We could make it to CNR Boat Show which was held in Atakoy Marina and some of the photos from the show are below...
The easiest way to keep up and to be updated about the marine world, is to visit the yacht shows. It is really very important for anyone who is interested in this business, to create the opportunity and attend as many shows as possible all around the world. Different subjects are coming up. Until the next post, stay wet... |
